Meet the Team

Company Director, established the company in 2001 and has steadily grown the business in the past 20 years.

Adam’s extensive knowledge in the industry comes not only from 20 years of experience in front of customers and use of the equipment in The Greenhouse Effects’ working grow room which has been an integral part of our business ethos, to test, use and know the products. But also from his involvement in several other business ventures over the years. He also has provided consultancy services with regards to product design for many manufacturers both within the grow system and lighting market.

2005-2015 Company Director of Growing Made Easy Ltd, where he designed, manufactured and sold the O2XS dissolved oxygen grow system.  Director and COO of Trees4Good and Green Energy Plantations Ltd working predominantly in South East Asia where he designed, built and ran multiple large scale hydroponic nurseries to propagate plants for the bio-diesel industry. 2007-2012 Jatropha Plant Science ltd providing a consultancy service to the bio-diesel industry.

Adam has now focussed all his energy into The Greenhouse Effect and can still be spotted getting his hands dirty in the warehouse, or serving at our trade counter, he has the memory of an elephant and can solve any problem

Company Director, a degree in Psychology and a background in advertising sales, Kath has always been there to support Adam in his ventures and keep the UK business running in his absence whilst bringing up their 2 children. As Director of Administration and Ecommerce, she is responsible for the office side of the business, our website and currently heads up the customer service team for ecommerce. Her main mantra is “communication is key”, so place an order with us and you can be guaranteed that if for any reason we can’t fulfil next day delivery, you’ll get a personal call from Kath, or an email to let you know. She also has an amazing ability to fight your corner for you, should you require it, embracing her ‘inner Karen’!

A keen photographer, responsible for many of the images seen on our social pages, she loves a good shot of #Cocothehydrodog and gives every dog who comes to visit our premises with their owners, the warmest welcome.

Joining us in January 2022 as General Manager, Dave, a chartered accountant since 2004, comes with a significant amount of experience in finance. Prior to joining The Greenhouse Effect, Dave was for 7 years the financial director of the European operations of an international asset management and construction consultancy (approx. 700 people, £80m turnover and 8 countries). Dave joins our growing team to support the company to diversify and grow its offerings, in particular in the agricultural and horticultural sectors. In addition to overseeing the business administration, Dave will work closely with the directors to appraise and implement strategies for growth.

Senior Sales Manager Andy joined us in 2012, with previous experience within the industry he also comes with years of practical knowledge. Heading up our retail team Andy provides a steady hand with a wealth of knowledge to impart to both customers and our other team members. Want to know why something is happening with your plants? Helen joined us August 2023, taking responsibility for customer service, web orders and dispatch.

With 33 years of working in customer service she brings with her a wealth of experience that enables her to provide the best customer service experience in the industry.

She loves working within a team, building relationships, practicing honesty and showing empathy.

Digital E-commerce & Marketing, Ryan joined our ever-expanding team in 2021. Ryan is responsible for maintaining and updating our website to ensure the best user experience and for managing our marketing campaigns and social media.

Been with us since he was born! A hard worker and chip off the old man’s block, he is learning the business from the bottom up. Having worked in the warehouse whilst studying for his GCSE’s and A Levels he has a comprehensive knowledge of all products and could run the back end with his eyes closed. Currently studying for a degree, he is working remotely in conjunction with our web and social media department – making sure that he keeps up to date with all that is happening within the industry.

It’s all about keeping it in the family! Also with us since he was born, this lad has been dragged in to work since he was little. He, like his brother, is learning the business from the bottom up and looks forward in the future to taking over the business and taking it to new heights. With regular in-house training and responsibility for the grow room Ben has hands on experience of using products on a daily basis and will be your first port of call when visiting our premises.
